NetSuite Manufacturing Configuration

NetSuite Manufacturing provides a comprehensive production management framework covering Bills of Materials, subassembly hierarchies, labor capitalization, machine-hour work centers, and finished goods transfer protocols.

Bill of Materials & Subassembly Management

NetSuite manufacturing supports multiple BOM revisions per finished good, enabling engineering change management and version-controlled production records. Subassembly structures are configured for product families (Fuse, HRB, TWM), with component indentation reflecting multi-level production hierarchies. Non-inventory components used in manufacturing calculations are set up as planning items until the Advanced Manufacturing module is implemented, providing continuity across phase transitions without disrupting production planning.

Labor Capitalization & Segmentation Controls

Labor expenses are capitalized into finished goods cost through work order routing that assigns labor rates to production operations. Machine hours in work centers are tracked for accurate operational cost allocation, supporting activity-based costing models. Item segmentation by Product Line restricts use of specific materials and components to authorized production categories, enforcing manufacturing governance and preventing cross-contamination of product lines in multi-product facilities.

Finished Goods Transfer & Raw Material Storage

Upon production completion, finished goods are transferred from the production location to dedicated FG storage locations using NetSuite inventory transfer workflows. Raw materials are received and staged in production-designated bin locations, ensuring clear separation of in-process and stored materials. In Phase 2, machine-hour tracking and advanced FG transfer automations are extended to support high-volume manufacturing environments with real-time production dashboard visibility and automated quality hold routing.
